Job Description:

 

We are currently seeking an experienced service department service writer/dispatcher whose primary responsibility will be to assist in the management the day-to-day operations of the service department. Applicant must have a proven record in a service department preferably with a background in forklift or heavy equipment repair and service.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide technical advice and resolution of a wide range problems in a timely manner to customers on a wide range of material handling equipment types
  • Manage warranty claims with the OEM's that we represent
  • Assist the service manager in managing the road and shop mechanics in your department and distribute necessary information in a timely and professional manner
  • Work with sales personnel as well as administrative personnel to ensure the customers’ needs are addressed correctly the first time
  • Evaluate needs of each customer on an individual basis
  • Continue your own education on new products and lines offered by the company by attending necessary training
  • Evaluate the performance of technicians which includes identifying strengths and weaknesses and addressing those issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Ability to clearly explain repair issues to customers with varying technical background
  • Maintain a clean and safe shop
  • Be ultimately responsible for coordinating PM schedules for all customers
  • Maintain shop and road repair schedules in order to ensure to maximize efficiencies of labor, supplies and overall cost



SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Customer service skills are paramount
  • Strong technical background and aptitude preferably with heavy equipment such as forklift trucks, container handlers, railcar movers, floor sweepers and scrubbers.
  • Experience working in a service department
  • Strong communication skills
  • Solid negotiating capabilities
  • Strong technical capacity to quote repair/rebuild jobs
  • Keen problem solving and trouble-shooting skills
  • Results drivenProficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
